Delegation and Coaching: The Winning Combination

Course Length: 1 day

Effective managers achieve results by enlisting the willing cooperation of others and providing their staff members with opportunities to develop and use their skills and knowledge. This program will focus on specific and critical techniques to assess and delegate a task, develop and support performance, and resolve performance problems. When managers offer consistent guidance, support and encouragement, they build a sense of commitment to a shared purpose and continuous improvement in employee effectiveness.

Course highlights:

  • Exercises using "actuals" and case studies
  • Choosing a real task to delegate to a real employee, and completing a readiness assessment with a skill/will checklist
  • Introducing the situational leadership grid with four style choices affecting delegation
  • Practicing delegation opportunities
  • With the coaching section, using a diagnostic tool to target each manager's approach to the employee he/she selects to work on, as well as a team troubleshoot of problem situations.

Both sections will be highly interactive throughout and can be tailored to be client-specific.
