Effective Email Communication (T3)

Course Length: 2 days

The Train-The-Trainer (T3) program enables human resources professionals and company facilitators to become certified to internally deliver trainingoneffective email communication.  The T3 program includes two days of hands-on training, which allows the new trainer to both experience and learn to deliver the workshop.  The program also includes facilitator and participant materials to conduct the training session.

Process for New Trainer Certification

New Trainer’s Packet

The new trainer receives the following items during the T3 program:

  • Effective Email Communication facilitator guide—includes speaker’s notes, stories, research, techniques for presenting, and answers to frequently-asked questions
  • Effective Email Communication participant workbook
  • Training preparation guide—includes a workshop philosophy, materials checklist, and presentation outline with workshop timing
  • Quick Reference Guide—a job-aid that reviews the topics from the workshop
  • Confusing Couples bookmark
  • Pen and highlighter
  • PowerPoint slides for workshop
  • The Gregg Reference Manual—a comprehensive manual to help answer any specific writing questions that can arise in the workshop


Participant Packets

After certification in the writing workshop, the new trainer purchases participant packets for subsequent trainings.  The participant packets include the following items:

  • Effective Email Communication participant workbook
  • Quick Reference Guide
  • Confusing Couples bookmark
  • Pen and highlighter

***The participants packets come shrink-wrapped for easy distribution to participants.

II.  Information on Effective Email Communication workshop


Workshop length
Half day (Four hours)

Objectives

  1. To learn best practices for email messages relating to format, grammar, tone, and style.
  2. To learn techniques to write action-oriented messages that get the right responses.
  3. To gain confidence in the ability to communicate through e-mail.

  3. Writing effective subject lines
  4. Covering bases with the “W & H” questions
  5. Using the right format for the right scenario and audience
  6. Achieving clarity and conciseness
  7. Categorizing and highlighting information
  8. Trimming word and sentence fat
  9. Avoiding ambiguity
  10. Striking the right tone
  11. Proofreading for perfection
  12. Avoiding the Top Ten e-mail mistakes

Instructor

 Barry Mohn

BARRY MOHN has 15 years of experience in management, business consulting, and training. His dynamic and practical training programs focus on these topics:

Barry is a seasoned trainer with international experience. As a business consultant for Principa, a global consulting firm based in Brisbane, Australia, he developed and presented training programs for over 60 clients in the accounting industry. The programs included: Strategic Planning, Customer-Service Strategy, Monitoring Key Performance Indicators, Strategic Marketing, and Analysis of Business Financial Statements. Barry also designed and delivered writing-skills training for software and hardware engineers in China, Taiwan, and Korea; and taught English language skills in Akita and Hiroshima, Japan.

In Barry's programs, he (1) focuses on understanding the training needs of participants and (2) builds on concepts and develops customized tools to meet those needs. He maintains an easy rapport with participants to create an atmosphere of working together to overcome performance challenges. His approach ensures that the training material applies to each participant's day-to-day work.
